KIYATA is a woodworking brand by two couples, Shinobu Wakano and Yuka.
"A place deep in the forest, where non-humans entertain what comes. What is there?" Kiyata's works starts as a way to answer that question.
Originally an artist of contemporary art, Shinobu is a woodworker who has arrived through experience in various fields of expression. each piece created has its own unique character.
Since launching in 2008 their works have the appeal of making every viewer imagine the story behind the characters. They create pieces for life and home which "give a little fantasy to life" beyond just the practical, utilitarian homewares we see in the world.
