Hello, I'm Nicole and HOW is my curated collection of quality craft kits, tools & accessories from the artisans and manufacturers of Japan. Shipped to you directly from our friends in Kobe.

It began with discovering the beauty and quality of Japanese craft goods on travels in Japan. Assisted by the fluent Japanese speaking skills of my husband, I sourced suppliers who produced quality Japanese products which were impossible to find in any stores in Australia and hard to find online. I built a strong relationship with one particular distributor whose dedicated, hardworking team now pick and pack all our orders from this store, our Etsy store and wholesale customers. We weathered the pandemic shipping storms and now work as 'one team'. I'm assisted by regular freelancers who step in and out as the business demands, and we all operate online. 

HOW has morphed and changed since it's inception from in person workshops, pop ups and craft fairs, importing and packing products,  to pure e-commerce shipping direct to you or your retail store. Like many tiny women-owned businesses, it's adapted to my life, and has shrunk or grown depending upon family circumstance and economic forces.

As of 2025 we're open to new ideas and opportunities as the post pandemic global trade world is ever changing! 

What HOW values is handmade pieces made by artisans and quality tools made by revered Japanese manufacturers. Materials so pleasurable to use they coax out the maker in you.
