We ship direct from Japan and make best efforts to despatch orders in a timely manner at the most reasonable cost.
During 2020 and 2021 we have been severely affected by very limited international flights, Covid staffing protocols, suspenseion of service to many countries from Japan's postal service Japan Post, and increased shipping costs worldwide.
Please note these changes:
For all our customers - please be aware there are delays to any international shipping because of limited flights and Japan Post suspending or limiting service to many countries
Japan Post is NOT SHIPPING to the USA, Australia, Canada, Russian Fed. Japan Post has suspended services. We can only use Fedex.
For US customers, some product is now stocked at US warehouses. Some orders or part of orders can be fulfilled in the US and shipped at local shipping rates.
For customers from the EU and UK - Any local taxes and duties will be charged to the customer upon collection of goods, we are not provided with the amount charged in advance.
The new VAT laws for the EU (from July 2021) require customers to an additional tax. HOW will transact through the Etsy store, and collect that tax in the transaction from the Etsy store. If you ordered from the website store, HOW will manually make the transaction. Customers will not be required to pay VAT upon collection of goods (their order).
For AUSTRALIAN customers, we are despatching a box of orders to Australia every 2-3 weeks. Then we will send it on to you. Our prices are less than directly sent to you with FedEx, but more than our usual postage charges. We are really trying to keep it at $15 for one item, $25 for a few small ones, $35 or more for larger items have to be charged at a higher rate. Better to order lightweight smaller items.
If your shipping rate is really high at checkout, it's because it's based on the rate of a FedEx pack sent direct to you. Please contact HOW if you would like explore any other option.
If your package is delayed, please check your tracking link first. If it has arrived in your country, the quickest way to find out is to contact your local post office and give them your Japan Post tracking number.
For Packages returned to our despatch in Kobe, Japan. Occasionally we have packages not collected by the consignee and it is returned to Japan. If it is because the consignee was notified by did not collect the package, we can re-send to the consignee at their expense. If we can re-sell the goods because they are unopened, HOW will refund cost of goods, but not cost of shipping.
