Celebrating the quiet beauty of handwork and natural materials
At Hands On Workshop, we believe in crafting with intention — and sourcing materials with stories. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a truly special maker: TATEITO TO YOKOITO, an artisan textile studio from Hyōgo, Japan.
The Art of Warp and Weft
The name TATEITO TO YOKOITO translates to "warp and weft" — the two threads that form the foundation of every woven fabric. This poetic phrase also reflects their ethos: building textiles slowly and mindfully from the ground up. Every piece begins with natural fibres — cotton, linen, wool, or silk — and is dyed, woven, and stitched by hand.
The result? A tactile experience that connects you to Japan’s deep textile traditions, reinterpreted with a fresh, artistic eye.
Hand-Embroidered and Crafted to Last
This is not mass production. Each fabric or finished item, from delicately embroidered aprons to naturally dyed bags, carries subtle variations that make it truly one of a kind. We especially love their expressive, minimalist embroidery — fine, whimsical, and quietly powerful.
Perfect for crafters, sewists, and slow fashion makers who value craftsmanship over trend.
Now Available at Hands On Workshop
We’re proud to stock a curated range of TATEITO TO YOKOITO products — ideal for those who appreciate the beauty of handmade details.
The fabric design FLORA is the feature fabric for the collection. Flora is the first textile released under the brand and it means the totality of all plant species, and they incorporated their 'reverence for plants into the fabric'.
They add: 'The yarn shop we used to use has now gone out of business and it has become a rare fabric that can no longer be produced, but this fabric is full of hope, as if it can go anywhere from this original textile'.

Acacia embroidery starts with a base called "paste" and then embroiders with irregular movements to create the 'buds'. The delicate floral buds and leaves are a pretty floral which creates a richly textured fabric.
Why We Love This Brand
In a world of fast fashion and disposable goods, TATEITO TO YOKOITO invites us to slow down. To enjoy the feel of natural fibres in our hands. To find meaning in every stitch. This is what Hands On Workshop is all about — finding joy in the process, and connecting makers with materials that matter.
